It seems to be official. The biggest trade in the MLB of this year has occurred between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Red Sox are sending Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett , and Carl Crawford in exchange for James Loney Rubby De La Rosa, Ivan De Jesus and Jerry Sands.

With the trade the Red Sox made it clear that their current core was not what they wanted. They thought that they would not be winning a championship with them anytime soon. With the trade they have been able to get rid of $270 million in payroll , which is going to make it an easier to rebuild the team faster.

As for the Dodgers, this trade seems to get them one step closer to the promise land. Since the new ownership took over, they have been one of the biggest spenders in baseball. They have become the clear favorites to win the National League West.

Lets see how this block buster trade works out for the Dodgers who are also trying to win the title of the best baseball team in the Los Angeles area.
