Foo Fighters Triumphantly Close Out Reading Festival

One of the U.K.’s most important music festivals came to a close last night and they did so with the help of the most rocking band today, the Foo Fighters.

The set was definitely one to remember. The band played 26 songs in over two and half hours. Grohl yelled out “”You guys realise we’ve got a lot of songs to play. It’s the last show of the tour and it’s the last show for a long time.”

Foo’s frontman also took some time to remember his former Nirvana bandmates, the late Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, by dedicating his song “These Days” to them. Grohl introduced the song with these words: “I’d like to dedicate this song to a couple of people who couldn’t be here tonight. This one’s for Krist and this one’s for Kurt.”

He later said: “In 1992 when Nirvana played here, the last show we ever played in England, you sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to my mom. Here’s your chance.” Grohl then brought his mother out on to the stage, where she was once again treated to a festival crowd’s rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
