Jack White, the artist, has always been a unique character. By which we mean he’s a bit bizarre and his latest single is no exception. “Freedom at 21” was released via balloon, on obsolete Flexi disc and now the former White Stripes frontman has brought in Hype Williams to man the director’s chair. What makes this a bizarre move is that while White typically employs a minimalist approach to his projects, he chose Hype, who brought us some of the flashiest and most memorable videos in Hip Hop in the ’90s MTV excess era.
White’s “Freedom At 21” is the soundtrack for an over-the-top car chase, a jail stint, some gratuitous side boob and even Josh Homme!
