Recap: Chance The Rapper Live at Lincoln Hall

This past Friday, Chance The Rapper headlined a sold-out show at Lincoln Hall in Lincoln Park. The show, presented by Jugrnaut, was kicked off by DJ Iggy of the Midnight Rockers as soon as the doors opened at 6pm. He had a very diverse set consisting of tracks that the younger, teenager-filled crowd thoroughly enjoyed. After warming up the crowd, DJ Iggy stayed on stage to handle the DJ duties for Chicago rapper St. Millie. St. Millie had a very dope set and definitely got a lot of love from the crowd. One of his best performances of the night was for the relatively new track, “Something Good.”

Treated Crew member ShowYouSuck hit the stage immediately after St. Millie with Auggie The 9th and DJ Manny Muscles. ShowYouSuck once again put on a hell of show. He had the crowd hyped and had them hanging onto every word of his entire set. ShowYouSuck tested out some new music with the crowd, performing his recently-released track produced by Taylor Gang producer Cardo, “All Rad Everything.” The crowd was really into the new track and ShowYouSuck rewarded their enthusiasm by performing the Treated Tuesday track he is featured on alongside Mic Terror and G-Zus Piece, who joined him on stage for the entirety of his set as hype men.

DJ Stefan Ponce was the next to hit the stage and began his DJ set by playing a few songs to get the crowd ready to bring out the star of the night, Chance The Rapper. Chance opened up his set with a tease for the sold-out crowd by going into a fan-favorite “Fuck You Tahm Bout.” But Chance had other plans and instead cut that performance short and went straight into “Brain Cells.” Chance performed a few more songs, even performing a new song for the Lincoln Park crowd. There were many special guests throughout Chance’s set. The first guest to rock the stage along Chance was the very-talented Alex Wiley. They performed “Windows” off of Chance’s 10 Day tape and then went into a performance of their other collaboration “Mo Purp” alongside Kembe X.

Chance was later joined by fellow Save Money member Vic Mensa and Treated Crew’s Sulaiman to perform their 10 Day collaboration “Family.” Chance switched things up towards the end of the show by bringing out a band to accompany him for three songs, including “Prom Night” and “Hey Ma.” Having a live band really took his show to a whole new level and those lucky enough to be there surely enjoyed the enhancement. After the live band Chance The Rapper decided to give the crowd what they wanted, finally performing his hit “Fuck You Tahm Bout” twice.

This was definitely a great show that included some very talented Chicago artists throughout the entire night.
