In today’s league matchup against Granada, Barcelona came up on top again thanks to its “wonder boy” striking again. And again. And again. In a goal-packed match (final result 5-3) which saw Barcelona leaving the pitch with another 3 points to stay in pace in its race to reach league-leader Real Madrid at the top, Lionel Messi was once again the star of the show. With yet another majestic hat-trick that the young soccer legend seemed to deliver effortlessly, Barcelona won and is now within 5 points from the top of the league.

However, the real highlight of today’s matchup was the breaking of a historic 57-year-old club record by none other than Argentine sensation, Lionel Messi. Today’s hat trick gave Messi his 234th career goal with Barcelona in all competitions, beating the previous record of 232 goals which was established in 1955 by Cesar Rodriguez.
